Peter Patzer

Who Sought Masterhood and Returned Not Quite the Same

"You are Peter Patzer, on a quest, seeking chess mastery. Patzer you are, in name and being.  Many are the legends told of your rotten moves at the chessboard. You are so lousy that your good moves cause others at the chess club to snicker with laughter. Strong players run away from you, afraid of being peppered with silly questions. Well, you get the idea. You have resolved to finally do something about your appalling chess skills."

This is an old parser game I wrote with the Adventure Game Toolkit (AGT) back in 2003. It was my first interactive fiction effort. AGT was a DOS program. However, the Internet Archive now has it uploaded, and it is now playable in your browser (see below).

You can play it online with your browser at the following URL:

https://archive.org/details/agt_patzer1

If the above link is not working, you can download the file below (zip file), but you will also need the Windows program AGiliTy which you can pick up at the IF archive. You can play almost all AGT Games on the Windows platform using AGility. The download zip also contains the solution to the game, in case you get stuck.

***SPOILERS*** Here is the solution link (plain text file).

Author's note: mailing addresses, email addresses, web sites, "shareware" information, etc. contained within this game are long out of date - please ignore them!
